Connect and Manage Channels for an AI Partner

Connect a channel from an AI partner card, finish any setup or confirmation step, choose a default, and verify the connection with a real message.

Updated Doc version 1.0

Once a channel is connected, you can open Feishu, WeChat, or another available work surface directly from an AI partner card. Start with one channel you will actually use, verify messaging, and add more only when the first connection is reliable.

Before you start

  • Prepare at least one AI partner that is ready to work. If no model is configured, finish model setup first.
  • Use a test conversation or small group that you are allowed to manage. Do not make an important client group your first test.
  • Available channels depend on the partner's runtime platform. Use the options shown in Channel Setup for that partner.

1. Choose the AI partner

Open AI Partners and switch to Manage mode. Find the partner responsible for this work, then check its name, role, and runtime status.

A card with no channel shows Connect Channel. A connected card shows channel chips and Manage Channels.

MotiClaw AI Partner Management shows Feishu and WeChat channel chips, Manage Channels, and Feishu setup-pending states
Channel chips identify the connection. Finish setup before testing messages when the card still shows a pending state.

2. Open channel management and finish setup

Select Connect Channel or Manage Channels, choose an available channel, and follow the setup flow. When the page asks for an account, conversation, or permission, grant only the scope this partner needs.

Return to the AI partner list. A channel chip means the setup was recognized. If the main action still says Setup or Pending, finish the remaining step before treating the channel as ready for messaging.

3. Choose the default channel

When a partner has more than one channel, open the menu beside the main action. Choose the channel you use most and select Set Default. The card marks the current default, and its main action opens that conversation first.

Changing the default only changes the card's quick action. It does not remove the other connected channels.

4. Verify with a real message

Open the default channel from the card and send one small message in the test conversation. Confirm that it reaches the intended partner and that the reply returns to the same conversation.

Before using a client or production group, review the partner's role, available tools, and actions that still require your approval.

Done when

The card shows the correct channel, the intended default is selected, and a test message works in both directions. Treat the connection as complete only after all three checks pass.

Troubleshooting

  • The action says Setup or Pending Reopen that channel, finish the remaining setup or confirmation, then check the card again.
  • The conversation does not open Allow MotiClaw to open the external page or pop-up and retry. If it still fails, open Manage Channels and review the setup.
  • A message reaches the wrong partner Stop testing in the live group, check which partner and default channel are bound to the conversation, then send one minimal test message again.
  • The main action opens the wrong channel Open the channel menu and set the channel you use most as the default.

Data boundary

Work data stays on your device by default; only channels you connect and model calls go online as the task requires.
